Plate XVII — Yes, Professor (the Office Hour)

Observing note

A single hot star sits at the head of a tidy row of fainter ones, each one annotated in the margin with a mark that the engraver left deliberately ambiguous. The astronomer's note observes that one office hour changed both their records, and that the plate was redrawn afterward. Northern summer, best just after the campus lights go off.
