Plate XXIII — Kindred Keys (the Keyboard Row)

Observing note

Counted by a patient observer over a single clear week in January, the Keyboard Row runs a full twelve degrees east to west and, if you trace it slowly enough, resolves into the melody of two people learning the same piece in different rooms. The plate numbers each star in sequence. A slow northern winter chart that rewards being taken one note at a time.
