Observing note
By day, the atlas notes, this is an ordinary rectangle of four fourth-magnitude stars, closed on all sides. The fifth star, the one that gives the asterism its name, lies just outside the frame and rises only after the rectangle has set, so that the two are never in the sky together. Our observer wrote that the name stays on the step; a Northern winter plate on dark grey stock.
