Plate XXXII — The Paper Moon (the Fairground Crescent)

Observing note

Nostalgia has a shape, and on this plate it is a crescent of eight stars that looks, charitably, like a cardboard moon strung above a fairground stage. Our observer first saw it as a child and found it again, unchanged, the summer she came back. A northern summer chart printed on toned stock to look like it has been kept in a drawer.
