Plate XVI — Belong to Her (the Noon Meridian)

Observing note

Here the plate is ruled with a single hard line down the centre, the noon meridian, and everything east of it is drawn in a warmer ink. The engraver intended it as a joke about an assistant's schedule, and left it in because the joke kept turning out to be true. A long, low summer field best taken from a private terrace with the engines cooling somewhere behind you.
